The title of my first post may sound a little cheesy, but it is the reality of my situation. Before I can leave for my teaching job at CISP in the Czech Republic, I have to go through a whole other journey... the journey of support raising. You may think I am being melodramatic, but just ask anyone else who has ever gone through it before. As some of my friends might say, "Support raising is a 'beast'." This means it is a long difficult process, but sometimes very rewarding.
Support raising has some ups and some downs that come with it. Ups would include having people believe in what I am doing and agree to support me. Some of the people I have talked to or even met for the first time are so encouraging. They wish me luck, offer me prayer, and give me helpful advice for being a Christian overseas or for being a teacher. Some of the downs include that awkward moment of asking someone for money. No one likes doing that. I have also come across many people who think TeachBeyond and my school are running a scam because they aren't paying me themselves. It is also not so fun to have a little under 20% of the support pledged that I needed in order to go. Doubts, tears, frustrations, joy, hope, encouragement, and faith are all parts of the twists and turns of this journey of support raising.
I have decided that I am doing to end each post with come praises and prayer requests.
Praises: God has provided many opportunities this week for finding more supporters. He has also allowed me to connect with some friends on the days that I was feeling the most down, and those friends reminded me of His love and faithfulness.
Prayer Requests: Please pray that this journey of support raising will lead to my journey of educational missions in Prague. Pray that my support will miraculously come in. And ultimately pray that God's will is be done, and if His plan is for me to go somewhere else, that is what will happen.
